At the Selby District Vision AGM, which took place at Selby Town Hall, Cllr John Cattanach announced the launch of the first ever Selby District Vision Christmas Cards. Last year, as Chairman of Selby District Council, he sold Christmas Cards for his chosen charities, a picture of a snowy Cawood Castle and raised over £2,200.
This year, as a trustee of Selby District Vision, he is hoping to repeat last year’s success with two beautiful Christmas Cards designed by local graphic artist, Jennifer Richards. She has designed these two cards for no fee in an effort to maximise funds going into this well respected local charity.
John commented, “I met with Jenny in June and she mentioned that she was starting up her own business from home with a website under the label mrsrdesign. She added that she was willing to do some community work and I wondered if I could marry up my experience of selling over 500 packs of Christmas Cards with her most generous offer”
Their meeting was successful and so two strikingly designed Christmas Cards took pride of place at the AGM. The first, a Christmas wreath on a black background with subtle silver foil inlays and then a red card with Christmas words forming the shape of a Christmas tree.
The cards have been sponsored by Drax and Saint-Gobain and so every penny of the £3.50 per pack of 10 will go to the charity. John added, “It is possible that we could do this again, next year, with a new local designer and with a different theme”.
Cards can be purchased from Selby District Vision direct from their offices at Prospect Place in Selby, but perhaps, more easily from the Selby Times offices on The Crescent, Selby.
